Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 tbsp sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 5 tbs cold butter grated or cubed and forked in
  • 23 tbsp ice cold water
  • 34 tbsp Cider Jelly
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar
  • almond milk or milk of choice 1 tsp at a time
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon sugar*
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Set your oven to 425º F.
  2. Add flour, sugar and salt to a mixing bowl.
  3. Cut in your cold butter.* To do this, either cube your butter and work it into the flour with your hands or grate the butter into the flour mixture.
  4. Start adding your ice cold water 1 tbsp at a time and mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  5. Divide your dough into 2 balls and roll them into thin circles about 1/4 inch thick or less.
  6. Spread on your cider jelly to one sheet of dough, leaving about 1/2 inch on the sides, and place the remaining dough on top.
  7. Slightly fold the edges and crimp around the entire pop tart with a fork.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes.
  9. Whisk together your powdered sugar, cinnamon sugar, cinnamon and milk of choice 1 tsp at a time until you get a smooth consistency. You want it to be able to spread, but you don’t want it too thin that it just runs off the pop tart.
  10. Use a pizza cutter to slice into 4 pieces and enjoy!

Notes

*You can place your butter in the freezer 5-10 minutes before preparing the dough to make sure it stays cold enough.

*The cinnamon sugar is optional, but I feel it adds a certain yumminess that I personally wouldn’t skip. To make cinnamon sugar, I like the ratio 1 tbsp of cane sugar to 1 tsp of cinnamon.
