Sometimes when I can’t sleep, I lie awake and write little poems or writings. I thought I’d start sharing some of my favorites, so here’s the first one: Oh, To Be Young.
Oh, to be young
and realize how good we had it
To stay up late ’cause going to bed early was tragic
A 5 AM bedtime,
awake staring at the stars,
singing, laughing, dancing
and discovering who we are.
Sometimes when I’m feeling sad, or I can’t sleep, I get my thoughts and emotions out on the notes app of my iPhone. Occasionally those thoughts turn into poems. I’ve started sharing some of them in this poetry series here on my blog. I like to share the ones that I think will be relatable or will help someone else. I also like to share the happy ones! Most of the time, it’s a tool for me to get my emotions out and process how I’m feeling, so there honestly aren’t a lot of happy ones. But I believe when sadness turns to words, it turns to art, and there’s beauty in that. But, this is one of the happy ones!
