I wait for you, little one
Like a mama duck waiting on her hatchlings
Or the moon waiting for sun down.
I wait for you each month, little one
Looking for you in invisible lines and signs
That point to new life
Knowing your love could be right around the corner.
I wait for you to fill the walls, little one
The spaces, nooks and crannies
To fill my heart and all my surroundings.
I’ll wait for you each day
I’ll pray you’re on your way.
I wait for you, little one
And I know deep down to my core
That there’s nothing more worth while
Than to wait for you.

Sometimes when I’m feeling sad, or I can’t sleep, I get my thoughts and emotions out on the notes app of my iPhone. Occasionally those thoughts turn into poems. I’ve started sharing some of them in this poetry series here on my blog. I like to share the ones that I think will be relatable or will help someone else. I also like to share the happy ones! Most of the time, it’s a tool for me to get my emotions out and process how I’m feeling, so there honestly aren’t a lot of happy ones. But I believe when sadness turns to words, it turns to art, and there’s beauty in that.
