This simple lychee martini recipe is so good, I almost feel like I should start this post with a warning. Warning: Goes down way too easy. Ha!
Lychee is an exotic fruit native to Asia, that also grows in warmer climates in the U.S. including Hawaii and Florida. Prior to 2020, I had only ever tried them in Hawaii. We had them in everything: margaritas, fresh picked while zip-lining and even in a dessert!
Ever since moving to South Florida, Lychee has been on my seasonal shopping list, and I look forward to getting my hands on some every summer.
If youβve never had a lychee before, theyβre sweet and juicy all on their own, but theyβre especially good in a cocktail. I made lychee sangria one night for some friends who were coming over, and we ended the night with these lychee martinis because we just couldnβt get enough!
However, don’t worry if you live outside of these warmer regions, you can still enjoy these lychee martini’s thanks to canned lychee and lychee juice that you can find at most grocery stores!
A lot of you have been having trouble finding lychee juice, and I’ve been noticing it at my grocery stores too. I used to be able to get it from Whole Foods, The Fresh Market or Publix, but lately it has been hit or miss. Where the heck did the lychee juice go? Amazon to the rescue I guess. I’ve ordered this one before from Amazon and it works great in this recipe!
You can also use the juice from canned lychees, which you should be able to find in the international foods aisle at your local grocery store. However, using the juice from canned lychees will make the martini a little sweeter than this original recipe is, so keep that in mind. If you love a sweet cocktail, I’d say go for it! Otherwise, I suggest ordering if you can’t find it at your local store.
I know last year, Costco sold it around the holidays, so that could be a good place to check out as well.
These simple lychee martinis are just 3 ingredients. All you need is your favorite vodka (mine’s Kettle One), St. Germain and Lychee (or “litchi”) Juice.
There are lots of recipes that include vermouth, but I prefer my lychee martini’s without vermouth. I know you will love this version!
I like to finish mine off with a fresh lychee fruit, but if you canβt find any, itβs not a big deal. Sometimes I use canned ones too if they are out of season. It makes for a delicious treat once youβve finished your martini; it soaks up some of your martini and makes the already delicious fruit even better!
To make the martiniβs, simply pour the ingredients over ice into your cocktail shaker. You need 1.5 oz vodka, 1.5 oz St. Germain and 1 oz Lychee Juice. Shake it up and pour into a martini glass, then top with your fruit and enjoy.
