There’s just something about Summer. It’s always had a certain je ne sais quoi about it. To me, Summer feels like freedom. Maybe that has been slightly ingrained in us all from childhood. School’s out, cares and worries slip away and the hot summer sun reminds us to slow down and soak it in.
If we were to take on this Summer like we did when we were young, what would that feel like? Could we stop letting our work days fade into the evening and our weekends go to waste on household chores, so that our hearts and minds could once again dream and wander with adventure.
Maybe we could remember that sometimes staying up late to swim under the stars, talk around the bonfire while making s’mores, catching fireflies or dancing under neon lights feels better for the soul than 8 hours of sleep.
That catching a beach sunrise or a ball game beats getting the house perfectly clean on the weekends.
And that rosé is better enjoyed on a patio, poolside or maybe even on the beach, than it is sitting in front of a Netflix show.
Summer reminds us to romanticize life; to soak in every moment. Whether it’s an evening spent in the backyard, or a trip that you’ve been waiting for all year, Summer memories never seem to fade.
This season’s blog theme is Soak It In.
Give yourself a chance this summer to slow down and really soak in every moment. Soak in the sun, the laughs, the summer nights, time spent with others, the water, the summer drinks and delicious food.
Make time for entertaining, catching up, hobbies and relaxing.
Whatever you may be doing this summer, every now and then, remember to pause, breathe and soak it in.
The Summer Solstice is my favorite day of the year because it truly gives us the opportunity to soak in so much of the day. It’s the longest day of the year, and it feels like an endless summer day in the best way possible.
This summer on the blog, I’ll be sharing ways to soak in summertime with a summer cocktail series, delicious recipes, summer entertaining ideas and more.
