Strawberry Lemonade Sangria in the summertime? Sign me up! I was visiting my friend in Missouri, and we needed something for a little back porch sippin’, so we headed to the store. We left with strawberries, lemon, basil, strawberry lemonade and white wine. Throw in a little vodka from the at-home bar, and you’ve got yourself the perfect summertime sangria.

This white sangria makes a great patio sipper and would definitely please a crowd– just be sure to double (or triple) the recipe below if you’re entertaining.

Which white wine is best for sangria?

When you’re browsing white wines for sangria, you want to look for one that’s dry and crisp. Something light and refreshing and nothing too expensive! Nothing crazy cheap either though! You want to make sure you still enjoy it on it’s own if you want a white sangria you’ll truly enjoy.

Pinot grigio is a great white wine to use for sangria. For this recipe, we picked up my friends favorite bottle from Trader Joe’s. Just make sure it’s not a sweet wine since we’ll be adding fruit and a little strawberry lemonade.

Here are the key takeaways:

  1. Stick to a white wine on the dry side– Skip the moscato! We’ll be adding fruit and juice that will sweeten it up a bit.
  2. Nothing too expensive, or too cheap! You definitely don’t need to break the bank here, but it should be a wine you enjoy on it’s own as well.
  3. No strong flavors– avoid oak-y wines like chardonnay. Pinot grigio makes a great white wine sangria base!

How to Make Strawberry Lemonade Sangria

To make this strawberry lemonade sangria, start by slicing your strawberries and lemons. Add your fruit to a pitcher along with basil leaves. Next, add your vodka, strawberry lemonade and your white wine. Give it a stir and place in the fridge until ready to serve!

It’s that simple! You can optionally top your glass with a little strawberry lemonade Poppi like we did, which adds some bubbles and a little more of that strawberry lemonade flavor.
